"Patented lash catcher brush has 3 bristles per lash to make every lash count. It catches, coats and de-clumps each lash to make them all fatter and flirtier. Instant clump-free volume. Contact lens safe and ophthalmologist tested."
Having decent luck with Maybelline's "The Falsies" and "The Mega Plush" mascaras, I decided to try out "Volum' Express One by One". What drew me to this particular mascara were the bristles. I cannot stand clumps and considering that this mascara was designed to create "clump-free volume", I did not even think twice about purchasing it.
The formula of this mascara seems to be relatively thick and somewhat dry, which is good because I'm not much of a wet or thin formula lover. The wand resembles an egg (longer bristles in the middle and shorter in the outsides, particularly on the right end) and each individual bristle seems to hold clumps of the mascara to them.
This mascara added major volume to my thin lashes. Sadly though, it also made my lashes clump together instead of separating them. Even though I was disappointed in the clumping, it also does a good job at helping my medium length lashes get a little extra length. And considering I bought it in "blackest black", the color helped make my lashes stand out also.
I normally only wear makeup while I'm at school, and by the end of the day, I'm too tired to care how it looks. Nevertheless, this mascara did an amazing job at holding the curl.
Overall, I'd give this mascara a 6.5/7. Even though it added some length and held the curl, the clumping was a major setback for me. More than likely, I won't be purchasing this mascara again. But even though this mascara didn't quite do it for me, it may work differently on your lashes or you may just be looking for something different in a mascara.
