Eyeliner was special-occasion-only thing for me up until recently. Lining the top lash line with eyeliner gives my eyes a feminine touch that I enjoy. I experimented with liquid liner, but I didn't like the application process. I tried pencil liner, but found that it smudged too easily and rarely lasted. Reading about how quick and easy gel liner was, I decided to give it a try.
I began my quest for a nice beginner gel liner and many reviewers praised the Essence one. Don't let the price ($3.99 at Ulta) fool you. This is an excellent gel liner.
My everyday makeup look consists of wearing this eyeliner. Shockingly, this eyeliner stays on for over 8 hours with little smudging! Plus, it really is waterproof. I had to thoroughly scrub my hand to take off the eyeliner when I took the picture for this review.
The description says it has an "ultra-smooth gel formula" and they weren't kidding. This eyeliner is so creamy and glides onto my eyelid with ease.
And what really blew my mind was the pigmentation! I wasn't expecting much out of this but a little goes a long way with this eyeliner. I've had it for around six months now, and I'm not even half way through the jar.
I dipped my eyeliner brush into the gel liner and did one quick stroke!
Overall, I haven't tested out any other gel eyeliners so I can't compare the Essence one to any others. But I'll surely say that for only four bucks, you get much more than what you'd expect!
A little something to consider with this eyeliner would be what brush you'd like to use. If you plan on lining your lash line like me, I'd definitely recommend the Ulta Pro Flat Eyeliner Brush. It works like a charm.
